Heavy Rain and Snowfall Forecast for Jammu and Kashmir (March 1-3)

● A strong Western Disturbance is going to affect Jammu and Kashmir between 01 & 03 March. Under its influence, moderate to very heavy rain and snowfall is expected across Jammu and Kashmir. 

● Rain and snow activities are set to commence from the morning of March 1st onwards, but the most significant impact will be seen on March 2nd.

● At first, there is a possibility for moderate to heavy rainfall only in the plains, which could transform into snowfall.

on March 2nd if heavy rain persists.

● Higher reaches are expected to receive heavy to very heavy snowfall till 3rd March.

● Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in Jammu region as well, with chances of snowfall in higher areas like Banihal, Kishtwar and Bhaderwah.

● There are chances of lightning, thunder and strong gusty winds in some parts of the UT.

● Landslides and shooting stones are expected along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. It is suggested to avoid traveling on the highway till 04th March.
